Capital QB’s is proud to announce that Pepe Gonzalez has officially confirmed his presence as a Guest Coach for the 3rd Annual Commanders QB & REC Camp, taking place on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at the Embrun Sports Dome.
José Alejandro “Pepe” Gonzalez-Garza is a Mexican-born quarterback for the Montreal Carabins (U SPORTS) and one of the most accomplished young quarterbacks in Canadian university football. His addition to the Commanders Camp marks a major step forward in the camp’s mission to showcase and develop elite Canadian quarterback talent.
A Proven Winner at Every Level
Pepe Gonzalez’s rise through Canadian football has been nothing short of impressive.
In 2025, Gonzalez was named the Peter Gorman Trophy winner, awarded to Canada’s top U SPORTS rookie. That season, he led the RSEQ in passing yards (2,284) and touchdown passes (19), guiding the Carabins to a Jacques Dussault Cup championship and a deep playoff run.
His breakout continued on the biggest stage in 2025, where Gonzalez earned Vanier Cup Offensive MVP honors, cementing his reputation as one of the premier quarterbacks in the country.
Before U SPORTS, Gonzalez starred at Collège André-Grasset, and later represented Team Canada U20, leading the national team to victory at the 2024 IFAF World Junior Championship.
Why Pepe Gonzalez at the Commanders Camp Matters
The Commanders QB & REC Camp is built around one goal:
giving young quarterbacks and receivers direct access to athletes who have actually done it.
Pepe Gonzalez represents the full Canadian quarterback pathway — high school, national team, U SPORTS championships, and Vanier Cup success. At the camp, he will work hands-on with players, sharing real-world insight into:
- Championship preparation and weekly routines
- Decision-making under pressure
- Pocket presence and extending plays
- Leadership in high-stakes environments
His experience aligns seamlessly with Capital QB’s L.E.A.D. Philosophy:
Leadership, Extension of Plays, Athleticism, and Decision-Making.
The Commanders Camp: Year 3, Bigger Than Ever
Now entering its third year, the Commanders QB & REC Camp has quickly become one of the most respected quarterback and receiver development camps in Eastern Canada. Athletes travel from Ontario, Quebec, and across the country to take part in a focused, high-level training environment.
Pepe Gonzalez will join Championship QB Justin Shibley (St. Mary’s Huskies), Capital QB’s coaching staff, and additional elite guest coaches to be announced in the coming months.
