Push Up Challenge

Push Up Challenge

In the quest to identify the “complete” quarterback, physical strength is as crucial as technical skill and mental agility. Strength is a fundamental attribute that contributes significantly to a quarterback’s overall performance, affecting everything from throwing power to resilience against physical challenges on the field.

Push-Up Challenge (40 Points Total)

  • Objective: Perform as many push-ups as possible within the time limit to demonstrate upper body strength and endurance.
  • Time Limit: 1 minute.
  • Method: Participants are required to do standard military-style push-ups. This involves keeping the back straight and lowering the body until the elbows reach a 90-degree angle before pushing back up.
  • Scoring System:
  • 0-20 Push-Ups: 10 points total.
  • 21-40 Push-Ups: 20 points total.
  • 41+ Push-Ups: 40 points total. Points are awarded based on the total number of push-ups completed within these ranges.
  • Rules:
  • Form: Participants must maintain a straight body line throughout the push-up.
  • Depth: The chest must come within two inches of the ground for each repetition to count.
  • Judging: A judge will be present to monitor form and count valid push-ups.
  • Rest Position: Participants may rest only in the “up” plank position; resting on the ground is not permitted.

This challenge is designed to assess the participants’ upper body strength and endurance, key components for a quarterback’s physical fitness. Proper form and technique are crucial for push-ups to be counted, ensuring a fair and standardized evaluation for all participants.
