Scoring System

How Scoring Works in the Capital QB’s Commanders Challenge

Welcome to the Capital QB’s Commanders Challenge, where the quest to identify the top quarterback talent unfolds through a rigorous and comprehensive scoring system. Here’s everything you need to know about how points are earned in each of the ten challenging events:

Strength & Endurance

Push Up Challenge: Demonstrating upper body strength, participants earn 1 point for each push-up up to 20, 2 points per push-up for 21-30, and 3 points each beyond 30, up to a maximum of 60 push-ups.

Medicine Ball Slam Challenge: Testing explosive power, contestants receive 1 point per slam for the first 10, 2 points each for 11-20 slams, and 3 points each for any slams above 20, with a cap at 60 slams.

Plank Hold Challenge: Core strength is put to the test as participants gather points for every second they hold the plank, with the potential to earn up to 45 points for a 2-minute hold.

Speed & Agility

Short-Distance Pocket Burst Sprints: Speed is king in this sprint challenge, with the fastest times under 2 seconds earning 20 points and scaled points down to 3 seconds and over, which earns zero points.

Pro-Agility Shuttle: Agility and quick directional change are essential, with top times under 4 seconds scoring 20 points and points decreasing incrementally for times up to 5 seconds and over, which scores zero.

Precision Passing

1-Step Quick Game Challenge: Quarterbacks can secure up to 30 points by hitting targets at varying distances, with each accurate throw to the closer and farther targets scoring different point values.

3-Step Drop Game Challenge: This drill challenges QBs to execute after a 3-step drop, with similar scoring to the Quick Game and an opportunity for bonus points for a perfect series of throws.

Dynamic Throws

QB Sprint Roll Out: Mobility and accuracy are tested as QBs roll out to hit targets, with each accurate throw earning points towards a maximum of 40.

Quarterback RPO Game: Simulating game-time decision-making, quarterbacks earn points for accurate throws over a simulated ‘linebackers’ area, with a chance to score up to 40 points.

Arm Strength

Quarterback Long Throw Game: The long throw event is the ultimate test of arm strength, with distance brackets dictating the points earned, from 5 points for 10-19 yards to a maximum of 20 points for throws over 40 yards.

Scoring Transparency

Each event is meticulously designed to quantify key quarterback attributes. The scoring system is crafted to be transparent and easy to understand, allowing participants and spectators alike to follow the action and know precisely how each performance translates into points.
