In fact, the winter quarterback training sessions, have been a great way for young quarterbacks, to experiment each aspect of the QB position. Furthermore, the first 4 weeks of the clinics are dedicated to quarterback footwork drills.

It’s very simple, before a player can start throwing the football, they must understand to properly bring their body to balance, and recognize the full mechanics of throwing a football.

Starting in January of 2014, Capital QB’s will be hosting many Quarterback training Clinics in the East and West end of the city of Ottawa.

Therefore, if you’re son or daughter is interested in learning the Quarterback position, it’s important they’re  introduced the basic fundamentals at an early age, so they don’t develop bad habits.

As a matter of fact, we’ve seen too many 14 to 18 year old quarterbacks, come to our clinics with various throwing techniques, which eventually lead to throwing problems.

Many young quarterbacks have a tendency of wanting to cock their wrist inward, which simply puts too much stress on their elbow, which eventually leads to “tennis elbow” problems.

During our winter quarterback training sessions, players will learn and go through many types of practice drills. In fact, the quarterback drills they’ll learn, will improve their movement and improve their balance.

For example; one of the biggest corrections we make during our sessions, we find quarterbacks have a tendency to “over stride” when moving in the pocket or doing footwork drills.

Now, once a quarterback over extends their feet past both arm pits, they lose a bit of their mobility and velocity on their throw. In fact, by over striding, Quarterbacks will not be at a balance position and it can throw off your rhythm.
